At Beauty MDs, our team has personally visited manufacturing sites and researched various companies’ internal procedures to ensure products are true and accurate to claims. After thorough research and review of Certificate of Analysis, we have narrowed our selection to two farms – Veritas Farms and Pharm CBD.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) can be found in Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a natural supplement used to create a balance throughout the central nervous system, immune system, nervous system, cardiovascular system and lymphatic system. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not cause psychoactive effects. It has minimal sedation effect with excellent safety profile.
Is CBD the same as Hemp or THC?
Many hemp-derived CBD products are mislabeled. A study reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2017 indicated that 69% of 85 products surveyed had an incorrect amount of CBD and/or THC on the product label. Inaccurate THC amounts can lead to high or register a positive drug test.
CBD can be derived from both hemp and marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana are cannabis plants. The difference is that hemp plants have no more than 0.3 % THC while marijuana plants may contain various amount of THC. In the state of Texas, it is illegal to buy marijuana-derived CBD products. Sale of Hemp derived CBD products (< 0.3% THC) has been approved under Section 11 of HB 1325.
Make sure the product you purchase actually has CBD so that you are not wasting your money. Do not be fooled by products labelled as hemp extract, hemp seeds, hempseed oil, or Cannabis sativa seed oil.
How can CBD can benefit your health?
There most substantial evidence of benefit of CBD comes from adults suffering from chronic pain.
Studies have also shown CBD to help with anxiety behaviors such as disorders of PTSD, General Anxiety, or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. CBD can reduce symptoms of depression.
There is moderate evidence to show that CBD can improve sleep quality and benefit individuals who suffer from sleep disturbances from fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, chronic pain, and multiple sclerosis.
As a prescription, CBD has been approved by the FDA for treatment of pediatric seizures.
There are ongoing studies looking into CBD in reducing brain cell damages in patients with Alzheimer Dementia.
Recent studies support use of CBD to reduce drug seeking behavior and withdrawal signs. CBD in reducing addictive effects of drugs such opioids or cigarette can lead to promising treatment for current opioid epidemic.
Although there is full spectrum of potential CBD use, CBD is not approved by FDA as a drug or medication. CBD products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any diseases. CBD can cause drowsiness, liver damage, and interactions with other medications. You must consult with your healthcare professional about potential interactions or other medical complications before using CBD products.

A reputable CBD product will come with a Certificate of Analysis (COA.) COA will give you the exact amount of THC in your CBD product. You CBD products should be free of any heavy-metal or pesticides. Our hemp products have been 3rd party tested to ensure potency and purity.

How to determine CBD concentrations.
On CBD oil labels, look for the milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml) concentration. The bottle usually will have a larger print listing amount of CBD in milligrams. This is the total amount for the entire product, not the serving size or dose. You may have to divide the amount by the total quality of the bottle in milliliter.
You should purchase your CBD products from a knowledgeable source. You should consult with your healthcare provider for a suggestion in the dose that you need.
